The National Museum of American History displays our unique cultural life with everything from First Ladies gowns and the actual Star Spangled Banner that flew over Ft. Sumter on display. At the Smithsonian's National Air & Space Museum, on display is the Wright Brothers plane, the Spirit of St. Louis,and John Glenn's Mercury space capsule and the Apollo 11 command module which was the craft that first took man to the moon. Also not to be missed are the National Archives which house the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
